Should I check the Teatro Real seating plan before buying tickets?
The Teatro Real has some seats with reduced or no visibility, and some seats which are not as comfortable as others. These can be found on the Seating plan
, and they are also clearly marked throughout the entire ticket buying process. In any case, if you have any doubts about which seats to buy, you can always check the 3D view from seats
If I buy tickets online, can I print them out at home?
You can print your tickets as soon as you have bought them by clicking "print receipt and tickets", and there is no need to wait for the confirmation email to arrive. It is also possible to print your tickets using the confirmation email, by going to the menu option "see your tickets". Once you have printed the tickets, they will be accepted at the Teatro Real.
If you prefer to pick up your tickets at the theatre, you can use one of the machines in the main entrance hall of the theatre, using either the credit or debit card you used to make the purchase, or with the QR code on the confirmation email. The Box Office will print your tickets at a cost of 2 euros.
How do I pick up tickets bought over the phone?
If you bought tickets over the phone, you can pick them up from the machines in the main entrance hall of the theatre using the credit or debit card you used to make the purchase. The main entrance is located in the Plaza de Oriente, s/n. If you have any problems, you can ask any of the box office staff for assistance.

Does ticket availability change from one day to the next?
Ticket availability changes from one day to the next, as there are often cancellations and returned tickets. You should check the seats available on a regular basis.
Can I get a refund on tickets once I have bought them?
Under the terms and conditions for buying tickets at the Teatro Real, once tickets have been bought, they cannot be changed, returned or cancelled. The exception is the ticket return system reserved exclusively for dance and opera season ticket holders (other subscription tickets are not included).

A performance which is cancelled is the only reason ticket holders will receive a refund.
Can the Teatro Real cancel performances or change dates, times, shows or a member of the cast that have already been announced?
For technical and artistic reasons, force majeure, or other circumstances beyond its control, the Teatro Real reserves the right to cancel performances and change dates, times, shows or a member of the cast that has already been announced.

When can I buy a season ticket?

Why should I buy a season ticket?
Season ticket holders receive certain benefits, such as: the opportunity to get the best seats, having the same seat for all the shows included in the subscription, discounts, and easier ways to pay. Season tickets for Opera and Dance.
Are there different types of season ticket?
For the 2016/17 season, there are 12 OPERA season ticket possibilities and 4 DANCE season ticket possibilities. More information here (enlace)

What happens if I cannot attend one of the performances included in my season ticket?
If you cannot attend one of the performances included in your season ticket, you have several options: you can ask to change your tickets to others in the same category for the same performance on a different day. Alternatively, you can request a refund for the equivalent price for that performance. If they are subsequently sold, 100% of the ticket value will be refunded to you in a Gift Certificate (this service is limited to two refunds per season).
How can I change my tickets to a different day?
You can request a change of tickets as soon as advance ticket sales begin and up to five days before the date of your performance. At the Box Office or by telephone (+34) 902 24 48 48). This service is limited to two refunds per season.
How can I get a refund for one of the performances available on my season ticket?
Fill out the refund form, which will entitle you to a 100% refund to a Gift Card if the ticket is sold to someone else. This service is limited to two refunds per season.
If you have already printed out the ticket, you will not be able to do this over internet and will need to manage the refund in person at the Box Office.
Do season ticket holders have priority when buying tickets?

How do I get to the Teatro Real?
The Tearo Real is located in Plaza Isabel II s/n, in the centre of Madrid.
The best way of getting to the Teatro Real is via public transport, as traffic can sometimes be congested in the centre of Madrid, especially around Christmas time.

What time does the performance start?
You should check what time each performance starts by looking at the tickets or checking the calendar on the website
Some performances do not have intervals. If you arrive late, you will not be able to enter the auditorium.
How long will the performance last?
You can check how long each performance will last by reading information on the website a few days before the show. If you are an Opera or Dance season ticket holder, there is a free service that will send a message to your cell phone with the start time and duration of the performance. You can activate this service sending your number to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
How soon should I arrive at the theatre?
We recommend that you arrive at least 30 minutes before the performance starts to avoid any disappointment.
You will have access to your seats 45 minutes before the performance starts, the time when the theatre doors open.
What happens if I arrive late?
After the performance starts you will not be allowed to enter the auditorium except during the intervals. If you wish, our Front of House staff can escort you to an area for latecomers where you will be able to watch the performance on screens and listen to the music. This area has limited capacity.
If I need to leave during the performance, will I be allowed to come back in afterwards?
If you leave during the performance you will not be allowed to re-enter until the next interval, if there is one.
Is there a dress code for the Teatro Real?
You do not need to wear any specific attire, but we recommend that you do not come in shorts or flip flops.
What is the minimum age for attending a performance?
Children under 7 are not allowed to attend performances that are not included in the children's programme. In any case, if you are thinking of bringing children to a performance, we suggest you get in contact with customer services in order to find out whether or not the performance is suitable for children. The Teatro Real has a free cloakroom service, but it cannot be held responsible for any belongings or items inside the pockets of the coats left in the cloakroom.
For safety reasons, it is obligatory to leave any items in the cloakroom deemed dangerous due to their size or shape.
In what language are the subtitles shown?
The subtitles are shown in Spanish and English.
Can I take photos or film videos during the performance?
The use of cameras and recording equipment during a performance is strictly forbidden.

What are the tax benefits of being a Patron?
By law, companies benefit from a 35% tax-deductible allowance on any donations they make.
How much visibility will my company have?
The company logo will be included in all of the publications and corporate media of the Teatro Real: programmes for each show, theatre magazine, programme book of the season, website, institutional plaques and theatre box inside the main auditorium.
Is it possible to sponsor specific events and projects?
Yes. The Teatro Real offers companies the possibility to sponsor certain operatic events and other specific activities that take place during any given season. For more information regarding personalised sponsorships, do not hesitate to contact us.
Is there any preferential treatment for Patrons during performances?
Yes, there is an exclusive private area
available for Patrons during intervals, in the Goya room
. This large, comfortable area has a magnificent terrace from which you can enjoy spectacular views of the Royal Palace and the Plaza de Oriente gardens.
What is the Board of Patrons and how can I become a member?
The Board of Patrons, chaired by Alfredo Sáenz, is made up of the top management of the most important companies in Spain.
The purpose of this organisation is to actively promote and participate in the Foundation of the Teatro Real. It meets twice a year.
Directors or other members of senior management from companies that are Colaboradores, Patrocinadores or Mecenas can participate in these meetings.
As a Patron, are there discounts for hiring space in the theatre?
As a Patron, you will have the option of hiring any of the following spaces for free, once a season: Sala Goya, Sala Arrieta, Sala Felipe V, Sala Vergara, Sala Carlos III, and the Gayarre room and the Café de Palacio together. As for the main auditorium, members of the Board of Patrons receive a 20% discount.
Can a Patron have a guided tour of the Theatre?
Yes, there is a guided tour, and you can book one for up to 100 people. Mecenas Patrons can also go on a technical tour.
What are the benefits of placing an advertisement in the publications of the Teatro Real?
There is a 25% discount on the normal rate for colour advertisements in the programme book of the season and a 15% discount for advertisements placed in the programmes for specific shows. A Mecenas Patron is given one page of advertisement in all the opera programmes for the season.
Are Patrons entitled to tickets?
As a Benefactor: The Teatro Real allows Benefactor companies the use of two seats in Area A, for one perfomance of each show.
As a Colaborador: The Teatro Real allows Colaborador companies the use of a box in the dress circle or above the orchestra (6 seats), subject to availability, for one performance of each show. There are special conditions for senior management who wish to book further seats.
As a Patrocinador: The Teatro Real allows Patrocinador companies the use of a box in the dress circle (8 seats), subject to availability, for one perfomance of each show. There are special conditions for senior management who wish to book further seats.
As a Mecenas: The Teatro Real will provide Mecenas companies the opportunity to book a box in the dress circle (8 seats), for three perfomances of each show, subject to availability. In addition, two complimentary tickets will be provided for opening night of each opera.
The tickets will be charged separately from the donation.
